Vlisco Fashion Film Awards Campus Activation

The Vlisco Fashion Funds supports upcoming and talented designers and tailors in the process of establishing a career in fashion. Access to an expanded network is guaranteed and helps rising fashion talents with the necessary skill and brand-development for their African fashion labels.

General Requirement:

• All applicants are expected to be between 20-30 years of age
• Living in or outside Africa
• Must be able to design and sew their own clothes

Criteria for Selection

African contestants are invited for an interview and a sewing test after which three contestants are chosen as finalists per country category.

The finalists are then given a task to complete which is judged by an international panel of fashion professionals. The wines are chosen, one from each country category: Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Ghana, Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo and ‘Global’ which includes the rest of Africa and the diaspora.

Prize:

Winners are expected to receive career funding of £5000 to invest in new equipment, help finance and set up a studio or otherwise facilitate growth. The winner will also be invited to participate in professional training workshops.
